Strata Living and Balancing the Competing Interests Between
Individuals, the Community and the State
ABSTRACT
Property rights and entitlements can be expected to differ hugely across different jurisdictions in Australia, Singapore and China. Focusing on one particular property phenomenon – the strata development – illustrates the similarities and differences in how those jurisdictions have created frameworks which meet the need of the competing stakeholders in their respective communities. Particular problems arising through the life cycle of a strata development are identified through a stakeholder perspective and the solutions offered by each jurisdiction’s framework are explored and compared.
